Massage Therapy

Sports Massage
Sports massage is a popular form of treatment and prevention of soft tissue sports injuries.
Sports massage is proven to release and reduce tension in muscles, improve circulation and encourage the removal of waste products, such as lactic acid, during high-intensity activity and helps to relax the body. This will promote recovery and reduce the chance of muscle injury.
A sports massage will manipulate the soft tissue to benefit a person engaged in regular physical activity. Soft tissue is the connective tissue that has not hardened into bone and cartilage; it includes skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia (a form of connective tissue that lines and ensheathes the other soft tissues). I will also use stretching to assist in the correction of problems and imbalances in soft tissue that are caused by repetitive and strenuous physical activity and trauma. The application of sports massage, before and after exercise, may enhance performance, aid recovery and prevent injury
A sports massage has many benefits for anyone doing regular exercise by :
Relaxing muscles
Fighting fatigue
Relieving any swelling around joints
Boosting circulation and the immune system so that the body heals more quickly
Improving flexibility and body strength
Reducing heart rate and blood pressure
Increasing circulation and lymph flow
Supporting quicker recovery after strenuous exercise
Making it less likely to sustain injuries by relieving tension in the muscles
Your sports massage, depending on your needs, may incorporate some or all of the following. I may also suggest supporting modalities and home exercises if needed. - Deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, hot stone therapy, advanced sports stretching.
